Hi I’m Therese and I’m originally from the UK. My interests include travel, languages, astronomy and ballet. In my free time I love hiking, playing tennis (badly!) and being out in nature.
Why did I become a teacher?
I come from a family of teachers, and everyone told me I should be one too! I’m an active and talkative person – sitting quietly at a desk really doesn’t suit me. I’ve also loved languages since I was a child, and speak four languages at various levels, which helps me understand the challenges my learners experience and the best way to help them improve. Add to this a love of travel and meeting new people, and ESL teaching seemed ideal for me!
I fell in love with Russian ballet as a teenager, which led to a life-long interest in Russian culture and history. It’s amazing to have this opportunity to come to work in Russia and get to know this fascinating land better. I can speak a little Russian already but I hope to start Russian lessons soon so I can improve!
Which courses do I teach?
I teach courses at all age groups and levels, from babies to business people…I’m sure we’ll meet soon!
What do I most enjoy in teaching?
Getting to know my students, hearing their stories and watching them progress. No two lessons are ever the same and I love that. There’s always something very special about the moment a student surprises themselves too – language learning can be a long process and unlike computer games, there aren’t any flashy lights to tell us we’ve cracked a whole new level!
