Why did you become a teacher?

I’ve always been drawn to the teaching profession. I’ve worked with students at the middle and high school levels as a private tutor since 2010 and have taught an introductory Sociology course at a community college in Houston, TX, since 2012. I pursued a career in teaching English because I wanted to help students acquire English, my mother tongue that has been the source of much pleasure and inspiration in my own life.

Why Russia?

Russian art and literature have fascinated me for most of my life. After spending a semester in St. Petersburg (with a week in Moscow) as a student, I became ever more interested in Russian traditions, especially in the kitchen. While I’d like to continue improving my own knowledge of Russia, it’s gratifying for me to be able to share the English language with Russian students.

What do you most enjoy about teaching?

I enjoy writing creative lessons and interacting with students, supporting them through their learning process. I look forward to the opportunity to always improve my teaching style and methods to best assist students; lifelong learning is very important to me.
